Perspex Workshop

Maleny Artworks this week ran a two day Working with Perspex workshop with Brisbane artist Wim de Vos. Six local artists - Noela Mills, Carol Wilkes, Audrey Raymond, Fiona Dempster, Philippa Stewart-Hall and Ken Munsie - worked their you-know-whats off under Wim's expert tution and watchful eye, to produce some very exciting and unique perspex pieces ... including Noela's box of glass marbles, Carol's clever wall hanger for her fabric art, Philippa's snail in the moon, Audrey's collection of Macaw feather, Fiona excelled with engraved perspex pages for her next artists book and Ken's unique ( but, alas empty ... ) money box ...

Wim is an excellent and amusing tutor - his creative ideas and wonderful sense of style and proportion shone brilliantly over the group inspiring and enlightening them - slightly helped by the champagne at lunch of course !!!.

ROSEMARY ALMBERG at Caloundra

Maleny 'matriarch artist' Rosemary Almberg's current exhibition at Caloundra Regional Gallery was opened last week by photographer Colin Beard.

Rosemary Almberg’s exhibition Music in Paint explores the similarities between composing music and abstract painting by translating sound into a form of visual expression. These wonderfully vibrant and bold abstract paintings reflect the music of many major composers through the ages. Complementing Rosemary’s works are a awesome collection of bronze sculptures from the Queensland Art Gallery Collection, including figures by Rodin, Renoir, Epstein and Henry Moore. The exhibitions runs until 17 August.

West and Puls opening night

Di West and Megan Puls celebrated the opening of their joint exhibition at Maleny Artworks Gallery with a cocktail party last Saturday night.

DI WEST and MEGAN PULS EXHIBITION

Currently on show at Maleny Artworks Gallery is a joint exhibition by Di West and Megan Puls.

Di West’s Taking Tea is a collection of 35 assemblage works made up from used tea bags and found objects. The theme running through these fascinating works is about the layering of memories, especially our childhood memories, and how those memories are made and what remains with us forever etched in our minds.

Also on show at the Gallery is a series of porcelain and raku clay vessels by potter Megan Puls. The exhibition titled Bloom, explores the connection between the shapes, forms and colours of our natural environment.

Both exhibitions run until 29 July.
