Art Shoes

by Pendragon Boot Company.
Have you got a foot fetish? You will after this ...

Footwear has never been so fabulous! Art Shoes presents hand crafted wearable art that explores themes as diverse as nature, adsurdity and haute couture in this foot fetish collection two decaded in the making. After an overwhelming response across Queensland, this will be the exhibition's final year of touring, making it a valuable last chance opportunity to book such a diverse and textured exhibition. Art Shoes is one of 11 exhibitions in Queensland Arts Council’s Ontour onexhibition 2008 Season that tour to regional Queensland. Visit
www.qac.org.au for information about booking or visiting an exhibition near you. Ontour onexhibition tours multimedia visual arts exhibitions into everyday spaces such as libraries and cafes and are of a standard that attract regional galleries and museums. Maleny Youth Art Awards

The 14th annual Maleny Youth Art Awards were held last weekend at the Maleny High School. Close to 400 entries came from Primary, Junior, Senior and Graduate students living in the Hinterlands from Beerwah to Mapleton.
This year's event was sponsored by the Maleny Apex and coordinated by 'yours truly' with the help of several COMA volunteers. Art collector and patron of the awards, Ken Hinds, handed out the prizes at the opening ceremony on Saturday.
Congratulations to the 37 winners - a fantastic effort.

Rusty Offerings

Maleny Artworks presents …

RUSTY OFFERINGS ...

Carol Wilkes tutor

A TWO-DAY WORKSHOP EXLORING THE USE OF RUST
& OTHER EFFECTS ON FABRIC and PAPER

Wrapping, twisting, folding, layering and whatever we explore is used to create wonderful organic parcels containing rusty and not so rusty bits.
The final unwrapping reveals the most spontaneous organic imagery upon the surface of both cloth and paper.
Many other alternative methods and interpretations will be discussed for the student to have the confidence and knowledge to pursue on their own after the course.
These “art marks” on cloth and paper are able to be incorporated into many varied forms of art.
This process does not require the use of any toxic chemicals.

Dates … Saturday 20 September and Saturday 04 October
Time …. 10am to 2pm each day
Venue … Maleny Artworks Studio – 50 Maple Street
Fee……. $85.00 for the full course
