The Maleny Arts and Crafts Group must be congratulated on putting together another hugely successful Festival of the Senses over last weekend at the RSL Hall. This association of artisans has grown enormously over the past few years and this exhibition, together with the two fairs they hold each year, is a fine example of the skills and artistic merit of the members.
MACG painters and sculptors presented an excellent three day exhibition of paintings and sculptural pieces as well as several fabric artworks. Held in conjunction with the art show MACG presented the annual Maleny Teapot and tea cosy competition. This was the third annual teapot show with entries coming in from as far afield as Adelaide and Canberra.
The three winners were Sandra Bernaitus with her hand painted porcelain teapot “Sprectrum of Life”, Mieke van Sambeeck‘s creation “Ancient Language” and Chiko Jones’ “Blue Celadon” functional teapot. Christeen Duelberg won the teacosy competition with her amazing “Jest About Time”.
Several hundred people visited the show over the weekend and the Café Mag gourmands kept up a steady service of fine foods on the RSL verandah – a great place to watch Maleny hum along.
Some of the teapots from the competition are now on show at Maleny Artworks Gallery.
